Invisible Rainbow: A Physicists’s Introduction to the Science Behind Classical Chinese Medicine
by Changlin Zhang
“The electromagnetic body is much more complicated and dynamic than the chemical one. If we were able to see it, it would appear completely different to the visible chemical body. We would observe the seven major chakras along the central line of the body and many small chakras in other places emanating various colors. We would see dozens of acupuncture meridians, hundreds of acupuncture points…weaving into an intricate network – a continuous interference pattern that is holographic in appearance.”
The apparent divide between ancient Eastern medicine and Western science is an illusion (albeit a persistent one). Author and physicist Changlin Zhang takes the reader on a journey into the science of therapies such as ancient acupuncture, qigong and ayurveda, illuminating the quintessential role electromagnetics plays in their ability to heal and maintain health. A simple yet presently unacknowledged truth is that electromagnetic fields carry energy throughout the body, guided primarily by highly-ordered, semi-crystalline tissue channels, known in classical Eastern medicine as ‘meridians‘. Through phenomena such as electromagnetic resonance, this energy communicates with every element of our bodies, and states of health are directly correlated to the free flow of this energy.
Western thought needs to incorporate our fundamental electromagnetic nature into its study and practice of medicine. This is the key that unlocks our minds and allows us to be open to these age-old and efficacious healing practices, finally building a bridge between worlds that are, in fact, natural compliments of each other.
